Lessons from Two-Year-Olds

*If I put my sippy in the chair you are sitting in that does not mean that I want you to hold it. It does not mean that I want you to drink it. It simply means that I want to stuff it in your chair to make you as uncomfortable as possible while screaming whenever you may touch MY cup.

*When I'm throwing a fit I may just shock you by putting myself in time-out, quit throwing my fit, and happily get up and go back to playing. All un-prompted.

*If you leave your work shoes out on the floor (ahem!) I may just work on my fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination by un-lacing them for you!

*Once I find the zipper on my pants it will permanently stay down. Regardless of how many times you pull it up!

Insert loud girly shriek HERE!

(This is my third post in just as many days. Aren't you proud?!?!)

LOOK at what I found on the threshold of my front door as I opened it yesterday to walk B home!!!!

Now I can do spiders and bugs. Big nasty scorpions, no! So I did what anyone would do. I slammed the door on it! And when that didn't work I scooped up both babies and ran across the street (all three of us barefoot) beeseaching the help of B's older brother, L. (I think my exact words were, "I need a man!" lol.) Luckily, L and his shoe came to our rescue! Thanks L!

(Sorry about the poor quality of the photos. I didn't want to run back in for my camera so the cell phone had to do!)

Pregnancy side effect?

So today my brain has been running 90 mph. I have thought about just about every major event in our family between now and September. I spent ALL of nap today researching various "stuff". None of it deep or important. Here's a run-down of my list from today. Feel free to leave suggestions if you'd like.

*What should I do with the babies on Friday? I won't have the 4yo on Friday and only have Riley for one more week. I want to do something fun with them both. A friend suggested a children's museum in a near-by city/NB (not the one here in the big city). Anyone been there?

*Father's Day. I really wanted to order Daddy a T-shirt from Margaritaville in Cayman since that was the only M'ville we stopped in during our trip that he didn't buy a shirt from. My little Parrothead. Problem being...I couldn't find one I like in his size on their website or EBay. Big bummer! We're going to have to come up with another idea.

*Oh wait! Our anniversary AND his birthday follow a month after Father's Day. Make that three more ideas!

*Then Joey's birthday came to mind. Yes, it's not even quite even Memorial Day yet and I'm thinking to Labor Day. I'm crazy. I know. I don't think I want to have a party for him. He only has one little friend and we certainly don't need the whole neighborhood bringing us new toys (which they would!). So instead of having a party I thought it would be fun for the three of us to take a weekend trip to the coast. Daddy and I have really wanted to do this anyway. So I spent the majority of nap researching hotels and condos on the coast. I realized quickly that this would most likely get quite expensive and out of our budget quickly. Any ways to go cheaply (other than camping?)

Then I thought maybe we'd take him to the circus. But the circus is in town two months before his birthday. We might just take him anyway!

So...I'm looking for something fun and non-party-ish (it's my blog and I can make up my own words!) to do for Joey's birthday? Help?

I think that covers my list. I was productive today also. I managed to clean and feed everyone, cleaned the kitchen, baked cookies, balanced the checkbook, and even snuck in a power nap!

So there you have it. Now that I've written it all out maybe my brain will slow down some and I can relax tonight. Wish me luck and thanks for your help and ideas!

First Trimester Update

So if you don't want to read about my pregnancy come back in January! :o)

I am coming to the end of my first trimester (everybody now...YAY!). I can now make it through the day without a nap and have only tossed my cookies twice (which in eleven weeks isn't bad!). I am generally feeling pretty darn good most days and have given up fitting into my jeans. All three of us trooped to Dr. Murdock's office yesterday for our first prenatal visit and ultrasound. The nurse called me back and as I stepped onto the scale (I've only gained a pound...WAHOO!) she freaked out about how old Joey is realizing she'd worked for Dr. M a lot longer than she thought and decided she's now entitled to a raise! I love her! She took me back and asked me the zillions of questions that you're asked when you go in for your first visit. She did a test and confirmed that I am, in fact, pregnant (no REALLY!?!) and then we proceeded with the ultrasound. Dr. Murdock did all the measurements and took lots of pictures of my little sweetie (that are blurry because she/he was moving so much!), and we heard her/his precious little heartbeat for the very first time. Joey was quite confused through the whole ordeal! :o) Because of the situations surrounding Joey's birth I am now labeled as a moderately high-risk pregnancy. Pretty much I gathered that all this means is that Dr. Murdock will be watching my blood pressure (BP) like a hawk (especially towards the end of the pregnancy) and we will probably schedule a c-section for the week before Thanksgiving to prevent the baby from getting to be ten or eleven (read:OUCH!) pounds and my blood pressure getting dangerously too high again. I do have the option to have a VBAC if I go into labor early (35 or 36 weeks) when the baby is only six or seven pounds and is a safe size for me to deliver. I'm not really hoping for that because that's still pretty early to deliver a baby. Joey was born at 38 weeks and 2 days and still had problems so delivering earlier than that doesn't sound all that great to me (now, ask me again when the time comes...I'm sure I'll be ready to get the baby out by then! LOL). So, in short, everything looks great, the baby is measuring right on size for her/his due date, my BP is still good, and I get to visit my favorite doctors office monthly now!

I will try to post the sonogram pictures as well as another belly picture next week. I need to spend some time convincing the scanner that it wants to work but will have to put that off for another day since I'm supposed to be spending nap time today packing for our camping trip this weekend (read:yes, somehow this was my idea; yes, I'm not so sure about camping pregnant with a two-year old; yes, we're taking two cars so I can bail out if need be! What was I thinking?!?! Oh yeah, camping IS fun...just not necessarily in this condition!! LOL)

Have a great weekend!
